Trauma-informed yoga arrived at The Healing Collective in 2020 in response to the collective trauma experienced by the world. We always knew that movement in the body was essential to processing stuck trauma and memories, and an opportunity came to explore how that would work with our healing community.
Trauma-informed yoga is an approach to yoga practice that recognizes and addresses the impact of trauma on the body, mind, and spirit. It integrates principles of trauma theory, mindfulness, and somatic psychology to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals who have experienced trauma. This approach emphasizes choice, empowerment, and autonomy, allowing participants to explore their bodies and sensations at their own pace and comfort level.
